Growing up on the lower east side of Detroit literally a block from some of the largest and most expensive homes in the city, I quickly learned about the haves and have-nots. Every day I would walk through Indian Village to go to elementary school at Nichols or middle school at Butzel and as a kid, I would dream of one day calling one of these homes mine.
